First the Snow now the Potholes !

There I was driving along yesterday when suddenly Clunk ! the car hit a massive pothole - nothing unusual Britain's roads are notorious for potholes thought I.
As I proceeded I heard a 'grinding' noise coming from the rear nearside, the noise got louder so I pulled over to investigate. To my horror I discovered that the tyre had separated from the rim, luckily I stopped in time to prevent damaging the alloy wheel but the tyre was knackered.
A visit to my local tyre fitter this morning resulted in a £85 bill for a new tyre.
I am a mite upset today !!!.

Where Have All The Gritters gone ??

Yesterday morning I drove along a stretch of the A78 between Seamill and Ardrossan. As anyone familiar with this stretch of road will know every year there are several fatalities on this winding coastal road. About 8.20AM there was not a grain of grit on the road, following a snow shower during the night it was a sea of slush. For many people it was the first day back at work following the festive break and they had to face that !.
Few residantial areas have been gritted and many folk are virtual prisoners in their homes.
All the builder merchants are sold out of grit and sand, even the supermarkets are out of salt and grainy cat litter.
It's the same all over the UK of course - a bit of snow and the country grinds to a halt !.
